WhatsApp Chat History Sync Issues
In depth guide to understand Chat History sync issues with QR based WhatsApp channels.
WhatsApp Chat History Related Issues.
To understand problems related to chat history sync, it’s helpful to first know how QR-based WhatsApp integrations work.
🔍 How Do QR-Based WhatsApp Integrations Work?
QR-based integrations work the same way as WhatsApp Web, but with added wonderful features from ChatDaddy. Because of this, they share the same limitations as WhatsApp Web.
❓ Why Are Some of My Previous Chats Missing?
There are two possible reasons:
- Chats are still syncing
If your channel shows “Waiting for chat history sync”, it means the sync is in progress. For large chat volumes, syncing can take longer and may lead to partial data loss.
- Chat sync is complete, but messages are still missing
Even after syncing is complete, some older messages might be missing.
👉 This is a known limitation of WhatsApp Web and cannot be fixed.
📌 Important: You can check WhatsApp’s official documentation on this issue here.
📂 Where Can I Find Missing Old Chats?
If messages are missing in ChatDaddy:
- Check your phone’s WhatsApp app — it always has the full chat history.
- You may be able to load more messages in ChatDaddy by scrolling to the top of a chat. If this option doesn’t appear, those older messages can’t be retrieved via ChatDaddy.
🔄 Why Are New Chats Not Syncing After Connecting ChatDaddy?
Try the following:
- Go to Manage Channels and check if your channel is connected.
- Refresh the page.
If the issue continues, please contact support for further assistance.
🔁 Will Rescanning the QR Code Sync All Old Messages?
Rescanning the QR code might help — but it’s not guaranteed to sync all old messages. In fact, it can sometimes lead to:
- Different data being pulled from WhatsApp
- Longer sync times
- Temporary disruptions in service
✅ Tip: If you need to rescan, do it during non-working hours.
📎 Why Can’t I View Older Attachments (Images, Videos, PDFs, etc.)?
Attachments are only visible in ChatDaddy if:
- They were downloaded on your WhatsApp mobile app
- The files haven’t expired or been deleted
❗ If an attachment shows an error in ChatDaddy, check if it’s still available on your phone.
✅ Tip: Enable auto-download in WhatsApp mobile settings to avoid this problem.
